Tracey’s Bar joined the elite group of clubs to win all three major North-West Snooker Knockout Cup team tournaments in the same year – Premier, Senior and Pairs – the clean sweep signed, sealed and delivered after defeating Glendermott CC in the Senior Cup final, held last Tuesday night at the William Street snooker-room.
After playing second-fiddle to Tracey’s in the Premier Cup (final) and Pairs Cup (quarter-final), the ‘Glens’ were bidding to make it a case of third time lucky the ‘hard way’ (table disadvantage), only to endure another dismal night at the office.
The William Street side romped home 3-0, courtesy of cosy wins from Gerald McCloskey and Anthony McGill, allied to a close verdict from Emmett Casson (best-match break of 31).
Frame Scores – Emmett Casson 74, Maurice Ferguson (+10) 60; Gerald McCloskey 76, Steve Weekes (+10) 15; Anthony McGill 74, Jan Biernat (+10) 36; Brian McCourt v Davy Clifford and Gavin Gallagher v David Bishop (not played).
Finally, the NWIABSA committee extends kind thanks to Tracey’s Bar (sponsors), Mickey McCafferty (table technician), Alan Healy and Joe Sims (referees).
