It needed a break of tie to determine the outcome of the latest Thursday Open at North West Golf Club, sponsored by Total Golf, with no less than three competitors tied at 40 points.
It was down to the back nine to separate the potential winners and top of the pile, courtesy of a solid back nine consisting of six pars and three bogies was Ciaran Quigley (13) whose 40 points gave him his second win in as many weeks.
Ciaran carded 19 on the front nine and 21 on the back nine for his winning total. Runner-up and enjoying a return to form was Frank Friel (13) finishing among the prizes with his 40 points.
Diarmuid Logue (4) from Portsalon posted a 74 to win the gross prize which included a triple bogie 7 at the 10th. Martin McCallion (21) returned 40 points also to take the 3rd prize and further reducing his handicap in the process.
Results from last week’s competition were - 1, Mark Davis (6) 41 points; 2, Gino del Pinto 40; Gross, Kyle McCarron; 3, Stephen Anderson 39.
