The Foyle Hospice in Derry are now recruiting members to join their 26.2 team and run the Walled City marathon.
More than 400 people have represented Foyle Hospice in the last two years of the event raising in excess of £60,000 in the process.
And in this the Foyle Hospice’s 30th anniversary - they want the team to be bigger and better than ever before.
Last year the Walled City marathon was one of the biggest highlights of the running calendar,
Over 1,500 participants are expected to take to the streets of our city to complete the 26.2 mile course on Sunday May 31.
And the Foyle Hospice are appealing for participants to consider joining ‘Team 26.2’ again this year.
Ciaran McGinley, Head of Fundraising at the Hospice said: “We have been overwhelmed over the last two years by the response from people to raise money for our Hospice.
“What a great sight it was to see so many Foyle Hospice running vests out on the course during the event.
“Once again we are hoping to have another strong representation at this year’s event through Hospice Team 26.2. Having completed the inaugural marathon in 2013 I can certainly vouch for the great sense of achievement when I crossed the finish line in Guildhall Square.
“Fundraising through participation in marathons has been very important for the work of the Hospice and we hope that we will once again be able to attract people who will be keen to take part in the event and also raise some sponsorship. “Even if people have already secured an entry we hope they will consider raising some sponsorship for our Hospice.”
