There were two semi-finals of the competition last week at the track and in both semi-finals there were comfortable winners of both races.

In the first semi-final ‘Smurfing Senor’, owned by Eunan McBride, was fast away from trap three. The June ‘14 dog then opened up a big lead around the opening bends and maintained the gallop to win by over 12 lengths in a time of 42.79 for the 750 yards.

The second semi-final again turned into a possession. ‘Heroic Miss’, owned by Jack Mullan and trained by Willie Mullan, was fast away from traps and the September ‘14 bitch showed great pace to run right away from her rivals to win by over 12 lengths in a very fast time of 42.18.

Looking at Saturday night’s final it’s difficult to oppose ‘Heroic Miss’ on semi-final form. The only negative is a trap five draw but she has over eight lengths advantage on the clock on semi-final form, therefore, she has to be the selection to win the E800 pot for her Derry based connections.

There will also be four heats of the Doire Construction 525 on the card. This competition is kindly sponsored by Paul Gallagher and has a E3,000 prizefund so there is certain to be a good entry for these heats. The first race will be at 7.50pm as normal tomorrow night.

Brandywell Racing

There will be racing as normal at Brandywell Stadium on Monday night. There were no winners of the track lotto last Monday night. The numbers drawn were 15, 19, 34. The jackpot now stands at £3,950 and tickets can be bought before the first race on Monday night.
