Echo Echo are searching for local Skateboarders, Rollerbladers, Rollerskaters, Cyclists, Scooter Riders and Tea-Dancers to take part in an unusual film about the city and its people
Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company and acclaimed artist and filmmaker Rosemary Lee, are currently looking for many local people of all ages to take part in an extraordinary film this April as part of the City of Culture programme.
Rosemary Lee has been choreographing, performing and directing films for over twenty years. She has made some beautiful and highly acclaimed large-scale works involving professional dancers and members from local communities within different city locations both in the UK and abroad.
This Spring she will be collaborating with Echo Echo Dance Company on ‘Without’ – a special film project, which will create an amazing 360 degree panoramic view of Derry/Londonderry from a high point ‘within’ the city walls. Filmed from seven different view points the film will capture local people moving ‘without’ the city’s unique and historic landscape in various creative ways.
Artistic Director of Echo Echo, Steve Batts says: “Rosemary’s work shows the exceptional and magical possibilities of creating work with a mixture of professional dancers and non-professionals of all ages and backgrounds. I am very happy to be able to welcome Rosemary to work with Echo Echo on producing ‘Without.’
Echo Echo’s new Development Officer, Anna Nolan says: “There are many exciting ways in which local people can take part in ‘Without’ ranging from being filmed moving in various ways through city spaces to working as a volunteer within the filming period in April.
“Already we have several classes from five local primary schools looking forward to playing an important part in the film. In addition we are particularly looking for Skateboarders, Rollerbladers, Rollerskaters, Cyclists, Scooter Riders and Tea-Dancers to play a part in the film and would urge anyone who is involved in any of these activities to get in contact with Echo Echo or come along to our public information day on the 23rd February.”
Anyone can be involved in the film and no particular experience is required. If you or any of your family would like to take part or simply would like to find out more information please come along to the public information day. ‘Without’ promises to be a unique experience for everyone involved!
