‘The Turf Spade’ and other yarns

The next monthly performance of the Foyle Yarnspinners, will take place on Monday, May 13.

Again, it will happen in the Verbal Arts Centre, Bishop Street, Derry starting at 8pm sharp.

A spokesperson for the group said: “As part of the City of Culture this year, all of these nights have been a tremendous success.

“They are the perfect preparation for the Foyle Yarnspinners’ new project, with LYLO at The Playhouse, coming up now on May 24, 2013.

“This month’s guest will feature Aussie Bryson of Castlefin in County Donegal.

“Known throughout Ireland for telling stories, reciting poetry, acting, and generally being just good craic, Aussie comes with a great track record. He certainly promises to lift the spirits.”

A member of the award-winning Lifford Players for many years, he is also well-known for his rendition of “The Turf Spade”.

“As usual there will be some excellent floor spots. Foyle Yarnspinners now have a circle of people who can all perform very well in their own right. They always perfectly compliment the guest artist.

“Come along and enjoy this feast of fun.”
