Derry’s own Ulster Scots bard, Wilson Burgess, has been invited to recite his work at the forthcoming Balmoral Show.
The Balmoral Show runs at The King’s Hall in Belfast from May 16-18 and Wilson has been invited to perform at its Show Stage for separate readings of his own work on Friday, May 18, to entertain the masses.
Wilson’s readings at the Balmoral Show will take place at 11.30am, 3pm, 4pm and 5pm on Friday, May 18.
The local writer also had the recent honour of reading alongside the Ulster Orchestra during their huge Burns Night celebrations back in January.
The Balmoral Show is Ireland’s largest Agricultural and Food Show.
This year is its 144th Show and will offer its usual extravaganza of colour, competition and showmanship along with daily displays of pedigree horses, ponies, cattle, sheep, poultry, pigs and goats.
Recent years has seen Wilson Burgess make quite a name for himself in literary circles, with the release of two books of Ulster Scots verse, ‘Dae Ye See’ and ‘Ah Jist Wunner’. He is a member of Derry Scriptwriters Group.
