The one week countdown has officially begun towards the 12th City of Derry Jazz festival – and the anticipation is already building for what promises to be the biggest, boldest and brightest festival yet.

The box office phones are buzzing and the hotels are filling up fast as the city prepares to welcome over 35,000 people for the jazz extravaganza that every year sends the city into a musical frenzy over the May Bank Holiday weekend (May2-6).

The programme this year features a vibrant collection of some of the finest talents on the music scene, with over 300 performers coming together to stage what is undoubtedly one of the major highlights of Derry’s City of Culture year. Thanks to sponsors Guinness, over 90% of the events are free, and over 80 venues have jumped on board the jazz trail, the ultimate journey for music fans of all ages.

Headlining will be singing sensations The Overtones, the talented vocal harmony five piece who are easy on the eye, and even easier on the ear.

They will take the Millennium Forum by storm on the Friday and Saturday evening (3rd and 4th May) but be warned - tickets are already selling fast.

The festival programme kicks off with the Mayor’s Charity event, featuring an unforgettable celebration of swing, jump and boogie, including the Jive Aces, The Red Stripe Band and Derry Soulseekers, setting the stage for what will be a weekend to remember. This year the proceeds go towards Foyle Search and Rescue.
