The Derry doctor attempting to win this year’s series of The Apprentice made her mark on last night’s opening task.

So much so that the bookies have her at 9/1 favourite to win the coveted £250,000 investment from Lord Sugar.

Leah Totton, 24, was identified early on in the episode to be the sub-team leader for her team Evolve.

Despite her team losing the task, she also avoided a return to the boardroom due to her impressive leadership skills.

Her sub-team also managed to sell all of the items they had to flog before a 4.30pm deadline, making total sales of £839.30.

In the spin-off show, ‘You’re Fired’. on BBC2 she was also pinpointed as “someone to watch”. Green and Black’s founder Jo Fairley said she was “cool-headed and calm in a crisis, which is needed in business”, while another panel member said “I love an Irish girl, they always come out on top!”

The ninth series of The Apprentice continues this evening on BBC1 at 9pm.
