Mullabuoy's Miss Gormley is top of the class - it's official

A Derry teacher has been awarded the top PGCE student teacher prize from General Teaching Council.

Katrina Gormley from Mullabuoy Primary School was given the award during a special assembly at the school this week.

The P2/3 teacher was given the award by a tutor from General Teaching Council of Northern Ireland and the University of Ulster at Coleraine.

Mullabuoy School principal Jennifer Traynor said: “Well done Miss Gormley. We are very proud, and lucky to have you working in our school.”

There was also congratulations from Miss Gormley’s former primary school at St Columba’s P.S. who wrote on social media: “Congratulations Miss Gormley we always knew you were a Star!! From all your past pupils of MPL at St Columba’s PS.”

Another person wrote on the school facebook page: “Born to be a teacher.”
