Derry’s Link Academy and Movin’ Music Academy are to host an exceptional Nearly Summer Showcase gig this coming Saturday night, May 19, at the Nerve Centre on Magazine Street.
With a plethora of local artists lined up for your pleasure, this is bound to be one hell of a night out. Performing in the main hall of the Nerve Centre will be Grace and Mercy, Little Bear, Eros Theory, Zia Regime and Libido Switch, while the Nerve Centre Bar will host Ark Eye (live) as well as much-loved local DJs Darren Allen, Gavs Doherty and Jonny Boy.
The Link Academy, based in Castle Street, run showcase gigs every month in Masons Bar alongside Movin’ Music Academy with the overall aim of introducing new acts to a new audience. With summer fast approaching and the Link Academy approaching the anniversary of its first year in business, they wanted to establish a bigger event that gives local acts the enhanced opportunity of playing on a bigger stage to a bigger audience in one of the city’s best venues - the Nerve Centre.
Link Academy is now taking booking for future showcase gigs. If you’re interested in participating, please contact Kevin on: 075 4731 3087 or facebook the Academy. The local music school is also taking bookings for new students wishing to learn any instrument. “If we can’t teach it, we know someone who can - so don’t be scared to contact us,” a Link Academy spokesperson told the ‘Journal’.
Tickets, priced £6, are available from Link Academy or from Masons Bar. Doors open from 9.30pm-late.
