This week saw the applications go live for what will surely be the greatest search for talent the Northwest had ever seen, as Talent Northwest takes to the road to discover and showcase to the world the amazing abundance of outstanding talent our region possesses!
Six local heats reaching right across the Northwest inviting all areas of Derry, Strabane, Coleraine and Limavady to send forth and encourage their local uniquely talented performers to step forward and represent their community in a competition to be Winner of Talent Northwest 2015 and to have the chance of winning a massive Cash Prize!, Live Television Appearances and an Amazing Performance opportunities to name just some of the prizes up for grabs!
With its first stop Strabane on Saturday 21st February when Strabane’s Academy College on the Liskey Road will play host to our first Live auditions showcasing the best the Red Hand county has to offer before moving on to heats across Derry and Limavady where the best two acts from each area will proceed to represent their community in the grand final which will be televised live from the Millennium Forum Derry on Sunday 29th March 2015.
Organiser, Oliver Green, Greater Shantallow Community Arts said: “The event is Free to Enter and open to everyone, professional or amateur, young or old. If you’ve got talent, we want to showcase it. During our cities year as City of Culture we got to sample just a taste of the amazing, musical, dance and creative performance talents that our region has to offer and Talent Northwest is designed to build upon that legacy and once again shine the light brightly on what we know will be some of the finest performers that our country has to offer.
Funded by the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure, as part of their North West Social and Economic Development programme this event has attracted fantastic community support working in partnership with all our regional Neighbourhood Renewal Boards and district councils and has on board both Irish TV and Johnston Press as official media partners to ensure that the word of Talent Northwest reaching every home across the Northwest building connections between communities and providing an amazing platform to showcase local talent.

The heat venues start at Strabane Academy College (Liskey Road) on Saturday, 21stFebruary; St. Mary’s College, Derry on Saturday, 28th February; St. Brigid’s College, Derry on Sunday, 1st March; Waterside Theatre on Saturday, 7th March; St. Cecilia’s College on Sunday, 8th March and finish in Limavady High School on Saturday, 21st March.
