Nigel Grainge, the man that discovered Thin Lizzy, Sinead O’Connor and the Boomtown Rats to name a few, is making his way to Derry from Los Angeles next month as a guest of his co-A&R, local man Patrick Cutliffe.
Grainge hopes to leave Derry with at least one artist he can intro to a major label or publishing deal - and hopefully he’ll be spoilt for choice in our world-class City of Music! Hosting an A&R man of this calibre is obviously a massive coup for Cutliffe, especially as Grainge said recently: “Nearly all the great things in my career have come from Ireland.”
There’s also word on the street that Nigel’s nephew Nicky Shymansky (Amy Winehouse, La Roux) of Island Records may make the trip from London.
If you think this is the best thing since Thin Lizzy, the team will host live scouting sessions in Derry’s Nerve Centre from July 1-3.
If you want to be considered for a live audition, submit your email address at: Dropbox-http://www.choorpy.com Compose and send an email to: firstname.lastname@example.org, with the following information: Personal name, Act name, Genre, Phone number, Contact email address and one link to your most popular song (recorded versions are permitted but live recordings are preferred).
Reach for the stars, Derry - this could be the lucky break you’ve been waiting for!
