An aspiring Inishowen starlet is asking everyone to VOTE FOR HER as she aims to make it big in the music business.
Niamh Cregan, 16, from Muff has been narrowed down to one of 12 finalists in the Audition Vocal Competition run by Fulltilt Studios in Letterkenny.
Just two weeks ago, Niamh was given one hour to sing and record one song in the studios to impress the online audience on Youtube.
Now for the next two weeks, Niamh is asking everyone to log on to view her song, ‘Don’t you Remember’ by Adele, and ‘like’ it on the music sharing site to give her the chance to win the opportunity to record two music videos in the professional music suite.
Speaking to the ‘Journal’ yesterday, Niamh said she has been overwhelmed with the level of support she has received already.
“89 of my friends on Facebook have shared it on their page. I couldn’t believe it when I saw it yesterday. I’ve had great feedback from it and I’m delighted.
“It was a brilliant experience and even if I don’t get through at this stage, I loved recording the track and had a great time I was really scared viewing it for the first time . But it really gave me a taster of what could be,” smiled Niamh.
A pupil of Moville Community College, Niamh certainly has the support of her school.
“There was an announcement for me at assembly today, posters are going up this week, and teachers are showing pupils my video in their classes. It’s great, but I need every vote I can get at this stage. I think I have around 3000 views at the minute but I need people to keep ‘liking’ it as every like is worth 50 views, but you need a youtube account to ‘like’ the video.”
The six finalists who receive the most ‘likes’ and views on their video will be put to a panel of six judges, who will pick the top 4 from that and they will go into the final.
The deadline for likes and hits on the video is 31st December at 6pm.
However Niamh certainly won’t have time to be dwelling on the results as the Christmas period will be packed full of performances by the Muff teenager and her band mate James McDonald across Inishowen.
“We’re so busy over Christmas, I think we’re playing five nights in a row from Boxing Night, we’ve even been asked to play at our first wedding in Belfast on the 30th December so we’re looking forward to that.
“We’ve been getting gigs in Moville, Carn and around Muff so we’re very happy especially seeing as we’ve only been doing this since May.”
You can catch James and Niamh this weekend live in Rosato’s Moville tonight at 10.30 and Caiseal Mara Hotel tomorrow night.
