As part of the Jazz festival 2012 the Pink Ladies breast cancer support group and Gasyard Wall Féile will be hosting a weekend of events at Derry’s only outdoor Marquee venue at the Gasyard Centre.
Following on from their sell-out night last year, this year there are a number of events.
Tomorrow, Saturday, May 5, the Pink Ladies will present a night of Rat Pack & Diva’s with plenty of local talent singing alongside the Pink Ladies. Following this the sensational jazz band ‘The Roaring Forties’ will provide the entertainment.
Tickets cost £10, and there are bar facilities on site.
On Sunday, May 6, the Older People’s Services Forum has organised an afternoon Jazz Tea Dance for over 55’s at 2.30pm-4.30pm. Music by Bo Jangles.Tickets cost £3.50 and refreshments will be included.
The finale of the weekend events will see legendary Ska Band Doghouse celebrating the best in Ska music on Sunday, May 6.
Take a step back in time and one step beyond and delve into a musical world where Two Tone was king, boys were nutty and the girls equally so!
Doghouse are the ultimate experience in manic musical fun, offering up a big juicy bone of a show featuring a mouth-watering selection of the finest hits from legendary bands such as The Specials, Bad Manners, The Beat and who could forget the national treasure that is Madness.
Their musical pedigree is as long as your arm, and features members gleaned from some of the best bands the north has ever produced - The Defects, Ashanti, Flash Harry, Glam Slam, Agenda and Hard Changes - to name but a few.
Tickets cost £7.50, bar facilities on site. Doors will open at 7.30pm with DJ playing 80’s music before and after the band.
For those looking to attend both nights there’s a special deal of a two-day ticket for £15. Tickets are available from the Gasyard Centre or you can pay at the door for any of the three events.
