The Sperrins are set to rock this July thanks to a stellar line up for the 2012 Glasgowbury Festival.
Therapy? who have seen and done it all are set to headline but only after the finest Derry has to offer rock the 5,000 strong, six stage ‘small but massive’ festival.
Derry’s The Japanese Popstars, Fighting With Wire, Our Krypton Son, Best Boy Grip. The Wonder Villans, Paddy Nash and The Happy Enchiladas as well as Psycatron, LaFaro, Axis Of, RunawayGO, Soak, Pocket Billiards, Farriers, Marc O’Reilly, Amidships, Silhouette, VerseChorusVerse and Pretty Child Backfire are all signed to play the one day music celebration.
Recently voted Northern Ireland’s Best Festival, Glasgowbury runs on the weekend of July 21st. The campsite opens on Friday, while the bands will entertain on the Saturday before revellers return home on Sunday.
With over 20 years of touring experience and stunning albums, most notably, the iconic Mercury nominated album Troublegum, Therapy? are sure to be a hit at Glasgowbury 2012. It will be the first Northern Irish headline appearance for the three-piece Belfast rockers.
The Japanese Popstars with a Choice Music nomination for their acclaimed second album, Controlling Your Allegiance, will be in equally fine form.
Also celebrating the imminent release of, it must be said, their long awaited second album, are Derry’s Fighting With Wire, The Glasgowbury 2010 headliners return to the scene of some of their most iconic performances.
Meanwhile, the Glasgowbury organisers are once again joining forces with the talent behind the Celtronic festival, to secure acts of the calibre of Space Dimension Controller, Ryan Vail, Deep Fried Funk and Psycatron.
Festival organiser Paddy Glasgow said: “Having Therapy? play the festival is something we’ve been trying to make a reality for a few years now and I’m delighted that we can finally make it happen.
“They’re topping a bill that is jam packed with exciting homegrown talent including The Japanese Popstars and the return of Fighting With Wire, as well as first time Glasgowbury performances from the likes of Soak, Our Krypton Son and Farriers.
“This year’s festival is shaping up to be the most exciting yet with many more exciting line-up announcements still to come. That was our aim to make it as exciting as possible musically.”
As well as six stages packed full of the best new and established music, Glasgowbury also boasts a comedy stage and a host of kids’ activities throughout the weekend.
Glasgowbury 2012 takes place across the weekend of July 21st and ‘early eagle’ tickets are on sale until the end of May at 2010 prices.
