A unique musical collaboration celebrating the links between the music of Ireland, Scotland and America has been added to the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann programme.
The Transatlantic Fleadh will bring together some of the biggest names in traditional music including Jerry Douglas, Dan Tyminski, and Grammy award winner Tim O’Brien.
A spin-off of the internationally-renowned Transatlantic Sessions, the event concert will be held in The Venue at Ebrington on August 17. It will be broadcast on TG4 and also in the United States on the MHZ Network, and streamed online.
The announcement was made ahead of the Fleadh launch party which will be held in Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin on Thursday at 7pm.
Speaking ahead of the launch, Fleadh chairperson, Eibhlín Ní Dhochartaigh said: “Once again the eyes of the world are on Derry for all the right reasons. Our events team have pulled out the stops to secure the very best musicians in the world for this historic Fleadh and we can’t wait to reveal the full programme.”
