Don’t miss this showcase of outstanding talent and entertainment right in the heart of your city!
The City of Derry Drama Festival celebrates the best of amateur theatre across the country, but what you will see across these nine nights will be far from ‘amateur’.
Opening night, 7th March, will see an award-winning Strabane theatre group’s rendition of Ray Cooney’s ‘Caught in the Net’, followed by a feast of other ingenious productions such as ‘Agnes of God’, ‘Who’s afraid of Virginia Woolfe’ and the anticipated return of Letterkenny Music and Drama Group with ‘Chronicles of Long Kesh’
The groups will compete against each other in hope to claim prestigious recognition for their hard work and this year, Derry is welcoming seasoned and skilled dramatist, Mike Kaiser, to adjudicate the talented bunch. Kaiser has had many years experience in the theatre, with only a few of his accreditations being award winning acting, directing and writing, setting up his own theatre company and directing the winning entry in The All-England Festival. So whether your’e a theatre obsessive or a drama dunce, 2014’s ‘City of Derry Drama Festival’ offers a flavour of drama, music and laughs to suit everyone.
This is the festivals 34th year and it promises to be one of the best ever The festival runs from the 7-15th of March; for more information on booking tickets pick up an info booklet, visit www.cityofderrydrama festival.org,ring 02871314000 or drop into the Waterside Theatre.
