It’s perhaps the most eagerly anticipated movie of the year so far and already Derry cinema, the Brunswick Moviebowl, has sold in excess of 3,500 tickets for opening weekend screenings of ‘50 Shades of Grey’.
The movie, which is sure to have Derry film fans feeling hot under the collar, goes on general release next Friday, February 13.
The film is adapted from the best selling erotic novel of the same name by British author, E.L. James.
“It’s the biggest pre-sales for an opening weekend we’ve experienced ever,” said Cinema Manager, Eamon McLaughlin.
“We’ve sold in excess of 3,500 tickets for the opening weekend and we have sold out 12 shows so far. But I can’t stress this enough, due to popular demand there are still plenty of tickets left so if anyone wants to see the movie they will not be disappointed,” he added.
Keen to get in on the steamy atmosphere, the Brunswick Moviebowl’s mixologist has created an exclusive ‘50 Shades of Grey’ cocktail list.
“Fifty Shades of Grey’ has turned the traditional Valentine’s Day on its head. Traditionally our restaurant, Martha’s Vineyard, would be booked with tables for two whereas this year it’s tables for eight, 10 and 14 covers upwards.
“There are still loads of tickets left with more shows being added daily. The Brunswick Moviebowl has given over almost their entire cinema to ‘50 Shades of Grey’ and we plan on having 12 shows daily.”
