The ‘Heads of Terms’ for Derry’s multi-million-pound City Deal are to be signed tomorrow in what has been billed a major step forward by Sinn FéinMLA Martina Anderson.

The Foyle MLA told the ‘Journal’: “Tomorrow’s signing of the agreement between the funders and project delivery partners is a major step forward for Derry’s £250 million City Deal. These are exciting times for Derry which will see the city benefit from strategic projects focused on innovation and research, tourism and regeneration.”

She said the Finance Minister Conor Murphy had allocated £110 million of match funding for the City Deal which brings the total investment to £250m.

“In real terms it means more per head of population than the funding provided to Belfast for its City Deal projects,” she said.

Ms. Anderson said putting oen to paper tomorrow will pave the way for progress on the City Deal projects.

“It will also be fundamental to ensuring we realise the vast economic potential of the entire north west region in the longer term.”
