The school was delighted to be named Best Primary School, while member of staff Mr Derek McCallion received the award for Best Support Staff Member.
The double success has been warmly welcomed by Principal Mrs C. Barrett, who described the awards as a wonderful recognition of the entire Chapel Road school community.
Speaking about their success at the recent awards ceremony, Mrs Barrett said: “We are absolutely thrilled and incredibly proud to receive these two awards. To be named Best Primary School in County Derry is a tremendous honour and one which belongs to our whole school community.
“Our children are at the heart of everything we do, and this award reflects the commitment and dedication of our wonderful pupils, staff, parents, families, Board of Governors and the wider community who support Chapel Road every day.
“We are especially proud of Derek. He is such a valued member of our Chapel Road family and gives so much to our school. His kindness, commitment and willingness to go above and beyond for our children and staff make him a very deserving recipient of the Best Support Staff award.”
The awards are a particularly special achievement for Chapel Road Primary School and recognise the strong sense of teamwork, care and community that underpins school life.
Mrs Barrett added: “These awards are not simply trophies for our school. They are recognition of the people who make Chapel Road the special place it is. Every member of our school community has played a part in this success and I could not be prouder to be Principal of Chapel Road Primary School.
“We will celebrate this achievement together, but, most importantly, we will continue to work hard to ensure that every child who comes through our doors feels valued, supported and encouraged to reach their full potential.”
The Chapel Road Primary School community has extends its congratulations to Mr Derek McCallion and said they are delighted to be able to celebrate a memorable achievement for the school.
