Mr. Weir said major work on the projects was unlikely to commence until 2024/25.

He made the announcement this afternoon in the Stormont Assembly.

Another call for applications from schools will be issued next year.

Sinn Féin MLA Karen Mullan said she was disappointed that three Irish language schools in Derry were not included despite some of them relying on temporary accommodation for several years.

Mr. Weir said she would be happy to meet the schools in question.
