Summer free school meals welcomed

The Foyle MLA said: “Although all parties were in agreement that free school meal payments should continue over the summer period, I want to commend my party colleague Minister Conor Murphy for his financial intervention and making this possible.

“Additional funding has also been made available to extend the Eat Well Live Well programme which has supported and will continue to support thousands of vulnerable families at risk of food poverty.

“Addressing food poverty and holiday hunger are issues which I have campaigned on for a number of years now.

“We have shown it is possible to tackle these issues and provide solutions so I am hopeful we will be able to continue these interventions in the years to come.”
