Ava McGinn(17), a student at the School of Music since its inception in 2019, was awarded the Roy Adams Memorial Piano Scholarship 2020-2021 after a very competitive audition. The scholarship was donated to the Music School by Adrian Adams and his wife Liz following the death in early September of Adrian’s father Roy who had given a lifetime of service to music. In joining with Nicky Morton, right and Louis Fields, left, at the Music School in congratulating Ava, the external examiner, Reverend Dr Ian Mills, former Organist of Derry Cathedral, said: “The standard of the audition was extremely high, and it’s a real credit to Ava to have reached such a magnificent level of performance.”

I wish her well with her continuing studies.”

The School of Music would like to renew their thanks to Adrian and Liz Adams for sponsoring the Scholarship, and also expressed gratitude to all who entered for the audition.
