Wains’ World - Bready Primary School

Pupils at Bready Jubilee Primary School in Strabane feature in Wain’s World this week and they discuss one of the topics on everyone’s minds at the minute - climate change.

The Primary 5 pupils are very knowledgeable on the topic and they give tips and hints on how each of us can do our bit to reduce the affects of climate change on our world.

Jake, Chloe and Kayla were first up to discuss what can be done to fix climate change and how living in the country can make it hard to leave the car at home.

Alexa, Abby and Molly were up next and they discussed who is to blame for climate change and how the animals are suffering the most from it.

Kayla: Climate change is something that is happening to the world as a result of global warming. I think it’s the government’s fault because they’re not really doing anything to fix it

Chloe: The temperature is rising so the icebergs in the water might start melting and the polar bears and all the animals in the ocean might start dying.

Jake: The people who own factories are making climate change worse because they’re using coal and gas to run the factories and putting more gasses and things into the air.

Alexa: We need to stop throwing rubbish away because it’s affecting the sea and it’s going to start killing the animals. People should just have a bin in their car and take it home instead of throwing it out the window.

Molly: It’s the exact same for animals as it is for humans. If we ate something that we shouldn’t then that would make us very sick. If a bird starts eating a crisp packet that someone threw away then that would make them very sick too and they would die.

Abby: We should stop taking the car everywhere and just walk. You can walk to the shop or to school. Cars release toxic gasses into the air and that’s hurting people and animals too.
