14 COVID-19 cases in past week in Derry and Strabane all involved people under 60

The fourteen positive COVID-19 cases detected in Derry and Strabane between August 27 and September 2 all involved people aged under 60 years of age.

Yesterday the Department of Health started providing detailed breakdowns of the number of individuals testing positive during the last seven days by Local Government District and age bands.

The new data show the trend for Derry and Strabane is going in the right direction.

The seven-day rate per 100,000 was 9.3, which was down on the rate of 20.6 from the week before when 31 people tested positive.

Of the 14 people infected three were aged under 20, six were aged between 20 and 39 and five were in the 40-59 age group.

In total 1,928 individuals were tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus over the week.
