31 COVID-19 related deaths in Derry and Strabane according to NISRA weekly bulletin

There were thirty-one COVID-19 related deaths in Derry and Strabane in the calendar year to the end of last week, according to the latest figures published on Friday by the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA).

In the week to Friday, October 16, there were 17 deaths mentioning coronavirus on the death certificate across the north accounting for 6.1% of all deaths in that week and bringing the total number of Covid-19 related deaths registered in the calendar year 2020 to 930.

According to NISRA's weekly bulletin: "In the calendar year to 16th October, males and females accounted for similar proportions of all deaths registered (males: 49.5%, females: 50.5%) and Covid-19 related deaths registered (males: 51.1%; female: 48.9%).

"In the calendar year to October 16, the 75 years and over age-group accounted for two-thirds (64.7%) of all deaths and four-fifths (79.0%) of Covid-19 related deaths.

"For Covid-19 related deaths, those with an address in Belfast LGD accounted for 264 (28.4%) of the 930 deaths registered in the calendar year to October 23."£1
