43 people in Western Trust hospitals with COVID-19

Forty three people remained in Western Trust hospitals at midnight after being admitted following positive COVID-19 tests, the latest daily data published by the Department of Health shows.

A further twelve people were admitted to local hospitals between Saturday and Monday, eleven of whom were admitted to Altnagelvin.

Between October 6 and October 12, 1,461 people tested positive in the Derry and Strabane are and seven day rate per 100,000 is now 969.7.

The daily change in the cumulative number of patients with a positive test in Derry and Strabane between October 11 and October 12 was 163.

In total 3,324 have now tested positive for the illness in Derry and Strabane since the pandemic spread to the area.

Further details of the four people who have died with COVID-19 over the past week were also released this afternoon.

In addition to the two women who were aged over 80 who died last Wednesday and on Saturday in Derry and Strabane, two men aged between 60 and 79 were confirmed to have died on Saturday.

In total 25 people have now died in Derry and Strabane since the pandemic began. That's the same number of deaths as New Zealand.
