60 Derry/Strabane COVID-19 related deaths according to NISRA - rise of 13 week-on-week

There were 60 COVID-19 related deaths in Derry and Strabane in the calendar year to the end of last week, according to the latest figures published on Friday by the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA).

That's up 13 in the Derry and Strabane area week-on-week.

Over a thousand people (1014) had died of all causes in the city and district up until November 6.

In the week to Friday, November 6, meanwhile, there were 82 deaths mentioning Covid-19 on the death certificate accounting for 21.2% of all deaths in that week and bringing the total number of Covid-19 related deaths registered in calendar year 2020 to 1,105.

According to the NISRA: "In the calendar year to November 6, males and females accounted for similar proportions of all deaths registered (males: 49.8%, females: 50.2%) and Covid-19 related deaths registered (males: 51.5%; female: 48.5%).

"In the calendar year to November, 6 the 75 years and over age-group accounted for almost two-thirds (64.9%) of all deaths and four-fifths (78.0%) of Covid-19 related deaths.

"For Covid-19 related deaths, those with an address in Belfast LGD accounted for 296 (26.8%) of the 1,105 deaths registered in the calendar year to November 6."
