It issued the warning after reporting a spike in attendances this week.

On Tuesday evening A&E was 'extremely busy' with over 60 people waiting to be seen at one point.

The Trust said people who need urgent medical attention should always attend A&E but people should also consider other appropriate healthcare options.

"To minimise the risk and spread of COVID-19 you should come to the emergency department on your own, if possible. There are exceptions in certain circumstances, such as a parent attending with a sick child. Please adhere to all verbal and visible guidelines when in our emergency department for the protection of you and our staff," a Trust spokesperson said.
