Altnagelvin 2.33 per cent over capacity with three more admissions and 76 patients in Western Trust hospitals with COVID-19

Seventy-six people were being treated in Western Trust hospitals as COVID-19 patients at midnight on Wednesday.

Both Altnagelvin and the South West Acute Hospital in Enniskillen are now operating at over capacity.

In terms of general occupancy 21.67 per cent of beds at Altnagelvin were 'COVID-19 occupied', 73.33 per cent were 'other occupied' and the hospital is now stretched at 2.33 per cent over capacity: five per cent were 'awaiting admission' according to the latest data.

The SWAH was 8.33 per cent over capacity, according to the data released on Thursday.

Elsewhere, the Causeway, Mater, Royal Victoria and Ulster hospitals are all similarly stretched as a result of the health crisis.

Five of eleven (45.45%) ICU beds at Altnagelvin were being used to treat COVID-19 patients; one (9.09%) was occupied by a patient with another condition; and five (45.45%) were free.

Four ICU patients in total were being ventilated - three were COVID-19 patients and one was the non-COVID-19 patient.
