Altnagelvin 3.34 per cent over capacity with no ICU beds free

The woman was aged between 70 and 79. One of the men was aged 70 and 79 while the other was over 80.

Sixteen people have now been admitted to the Derry hospital with the illness this week.

In total 79 people were being treated as confirmed coronavirus inpatients in Western Trust hospitals at midnight on Wednesday.

The South West Acute Hospital in Enniskillen is running at 8.43 per cent over capacity.

In terms of general occupancy 18.24 per cent of beds at Altnagelvin are 'COVID-19 occupied', 76.90 per cent are 'other occupied' and the hospital is 3.34 per cent over capacity: 4.86 per cent are 'awaiting admission' according to the latest data.

Three of ten (30%) ICU beds at Altnagelvin are being used to treat COVID-19 patients; seven (70%) are occupied by patients with other conditions. There are no ICU beds free.

Six ICU patients in total are being ventilated - one is a COVID-19 patient and five are non-COVID-19 patients.
