Altnagelvin now stretched at 3.03% over capacity

Two more people, aged between 60 and 79, who had tested positive for COVID-19 were yesterday admitted to Altnagelvin which is now 3.03 per cent over capacity, according to the Department of Health daily update.

At midnight on Tuesday there were 80 confirmed or suspected coronavirus patients being cared for in Western Trust hospitals.

Six of twelve (50%) ICU beds at Altnagelvin were being used to treat COVID-19 patients; one (8.33%) was occupied by a patient with another conditions; and five (41.67%) were free.

Four ICU patients in total were being ventilated - three were COVID-19 patients and one was the non-COVID-19 patient.

In terms of general occupancy 20.02 per cent of beds at Altnagelvin were 'COVID-19 occupied', 73.06 per cent were 'other occupied' and the hospital is now stretched at 3.03 per cent over capacity: 6.73 per cent were 'awaiting admission' according to the latest data.

Both Altnagelvin and the South West Acute Hospital in Enniskillen are now operating at over three per cent over capacity.
