Altnagelvin operating at 1.61 per cent over capacity

At midnight on Tuesday there were 121 confirmed COVID-19 inpatients in Western Trust hospitals.

Five people have been admitted to Altnagelvin as coronavirus patients this week. Yesterday a patient aged between 60 and 79 was admitted while on Monday three patients in that age bracket and a further patient aged over 80 were admitted to the hospital.

In terms of general occupancy 13.23 per cent of beds at Altnagelvin were 'COVID-19 occupied', 80 per cent were 'other occupied' and the hospital was 1.61 per cent over capacity: 6.77 per cent were 'awaiting admission', according to the latest data.

The South West Acute Hospital is now running at 8.33 per cent over capacity.

Three of ten (30%) ICU beds at Altnagelvin were being used to treat COVID-19 patients; five (50%) were occupied by patients with other conditions; and two (20%) were free.

Five ICU patients in total were being ventilated - one was a COVID-19 patient and four were non-COVID-19 patient.
