Brendan smashes ‘100k in May’ target and raises £3760 for MND research

The ‘Derry Eddy Merckx’, Brendan Morrison, has raised £3,760 for motor neurone disease (MND) by completing an epic backyard cycled during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Brendan had intended to cycle ‘100 kilometres in May’ this week for the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation.

The father-of-two set an original target of raising £200 for the charity, inspired into action by the experiences of relatives and friends who had received diagnoses.

However, in his backyard in Omagh, where he now lives, the Westland-native absolutely smashed both targets raising £3760 and finding it difficult to take his feet off the pedals once he got going this week. Brendan had intended to cycle the 100kms over five days but managed to complete the challenge on Tuesday.

That didn’t stop him pushing on and at the time of going to press he had completed over 200km.

“Delighted to have done it in two days,” Brendan said, adding that he was ‘bowled over by the support’. You can still donate at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/brendan-morrison1
