The talented local performer’s version of the much-loved traditional ballad ‘Lovely Derry on the Banks of the Foyle’ shot to the upper reaches of the download charts this week.

It’s the second single from his latest album, ‘A New Dawn’, a suitably hopeful record released last November, and it’s already started bringing in funds for the local hospital.

After it was released on Tuesday Conor said he was delighted with its early chart position.

“My single ‘Lovely Derry on the Banks of the Foyle’ in aid of Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry has shot straight in at 22 on the iTunes World Music Chart after release today,“ he declared.

The record subsequently climbed even higher in the charts - reaching Number 13 at one stage.

Conor, who has made a habit of contributing to worthy causes in his hometown and further afield, said he had been planning to put the record out at some time during the spring.

However, with the COVID-19 crisis escalating he decided he would give the money raised from record sales to the local health service.

“I’ve been working on this for the last few months and had intended to release it this month.

Due to the current situation and everything going on at the moment with COVID-19 and coronavirus I have decided that all money raised from this single will go directly to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry,” he said.
