Earlier this year Danielle was admitted to hospital with pneumonia - she was nine weeks pregnant at the time.

Danielle’s condition deteriorated and she subsequently tested positive for Covid-19 on April 1.

Bryan, from the Shankill area of Belfast, said medical experts told him that the baby his partner Danielle was carrying was unlikely to survive the ordeal.

The one thing the medical experts did not countenance was just how hard Danielle was prepared to fight for her unborn child.

A few days after receiving the sobering prognosis, Bryan’s mobile phone started ringing - it was Danielle; she was out of intensive care and she had good news.

Bryan was over the moon when he heard Danielle’s voice but their remarkable story took a turn for the better when Danielle said “both” babies were doing fine.

“Once she was out of ICU and on a ward, she rang me to tell me both babies are fine - I was like ‘both?’” said Bryan back in April.

“At first I thought maybe she is still a little confused from everything she had been through.

“But when she said twins, I was so happy and grinning from ear to ear.”

It’s now six months on and Danielle and Bryan could not have asked for a happier or more wonderful ending to their truly amazing story.

Danielle gave birth to “two little miracles” called Ava and Amelia earlier this week and proud dad Bryan described the experience as the “best feeling in the world”.

“What an experience,” said Bryan, “and what a mad year our family has had!”

“Danielle catching Covid-19 and having to be put in a coma and ventilated for 10 days!

“And being told our little baby that was in Danielle’s tummy at only 10 weeks would not survive and it would be a miracle if it did!

“Then Danielle comes out of the coma to be told you have two little miracles growing healthy in there!”

Bryan added: “Well here is our two little princesses Ava and Amelia and doing absolutely amazing!

“Danielle is also doing fantastic! She deserves a medal! Best feeling in the world,” he said.
