What is a habit?

It's something that we perform automatically, mostly unconsciously. A habit is something we normally do without much conscious thought.

Now, at this time, for so many of us when we have our routine physically taken from our control, it can become very easy to lose focus but more importantly, we can feel like we have lost our purpose, especially with less of those connections we normally took for granted.

If you usually hit the gym early, met friends trained together, hung out and then head into work, that routine and habit gives you focus and a purpose each morning.

Take that away and it’s easy for us to feel lost. It's easier to lose focus and it's easy to feel apathetic about a lot of things that once gave us drive and ambition.

But now more than ever, it’s time we can show up for others. It’s now more than ever that we should focus on our routine and habits because it's now more than ever that we need to be empowering habits.

One positive we can take from the coronavirus situation is the way it has awakened people to the importance of their own health and wellbeing and made them aware that a healthy mind and body should be high up on their list of values.

Stay connected and show love and compassion to those in need: Improve your health with better nutrition; Show up for others in the best way we can.

We all have a duty of care and we all need to support those who do really need that.

Connection is so important to people's wellbeing and health and the lack of it can have a real detrimental effect over time. When we connect and come together, especially with loved ones and families, we feel good. We have a hormone that is released called oxytocin or known also as “the love hormone”.

The lack of love and connection, hugs, cuddles and more with parents, grandparents and their children or grandchildren can have a negative impact on us all.

So now more than ever it's important for us to stay connected and to be of service to others and care for others where and when we can. This also helps the release of the love hormone. When we give, we feel good.

Questions I ask myself each day and that we all can at this time . . .

How can I show up best for others?;

What service can I be of today?;

What value can I bring to others today?

Remember, we are all connected now more than ever!
