Three women and two men die in NI hospitals after testing positive for Covid-19

All five deaths occurred in hospitals in Northern Ireland.
Three of the five deceased were aged between 60 and 79 leaving the remaining 80 years-old or above.
Two of the deaths occurred in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area and one each in Mid Ulster council area, Newry, Mourne and Down council area and Causeway Coast and Glens council area.

There were also 1,252 new infections recorded in the last 24 hours.
The areas to see the biggest increase in cases in the last 24 hours were Belfast (321); Mid Ulster (149) and Derry City and Strabane (128).
These latest statistics also mean the number of people to test positive for Covid-19 in the last seven days now stand at 6,893.

Hide AdA total of 32,286 have tested positive since the beginning of the pandemic.
There are 296 patients in hospital with Covid-19 - an increase of five in 24 hours.
There are also 34 patients with Covid-19 in intensive care and 25 other patients with Covid-19 requiring a ventilator to assist them with their breathing.
Out of a total 110 intensive care unit beds, there are currently 19 unoccupied across Northern Ireland.
