COVID-19 rate in BT48 suppressed below 100 cases per 100,000 for first time in months

The prevalence of coronavirus has been suppressed below 100 cases per 100,000 for the first time in months on the cityside of Derry.

Between January 25 and January 31 there were 52 SARS-CoV-2 cases on the cityside (BT48) giving a rate per 100,000 of 85.4. This was down from a figure of 121.6 per 100,000 for the January 18 to January 24 period that was recorded last Monday.

It's the lowest figure recorded on the west bank of the Foyle since the Department of Health started providing a breakdown by post code in October.

In the BT47 postal area which covers the Waterside and its rural hinterland there were 67 positive tests over the same weekly period giving a rate per 100,000 of 108.3 which was well down on the figure of 187.5 last week.

In Strabane (BT82) there were 22 cases giving a prevalence rate of 81.8 per 100,000, down from 116.3 last week. In the Castlederg area (BT81) the case rate was 50.7 per 100,000 with four cases registered during the week, less than a third of the rate of 164.9 per 100,000 figure that was posted last week.
