Derry and Strabane COVID-19 case rate per 100,000 down to 578.1

The COVID-19 case rate per 100,000 people in Derry and Strabane remains the highest in the north but it is continuing to fall.

Between October 16 and October 22, 871 people tested positive in the Derry and Strabane area giving a case rate per 100,000 of 578.1, according to fresh data released by the Department of Health on Friday.

This was down from 617.2 per 100,000 for the seven days October 15 to October 22 during which 930 people in total tested positive.

It's the second day in a row that the seven day total of positive cases was less than 1,000.

Thursday was the first time since September 30 to October 6 that this had happened.

The daily change in the cumulative number of patients with a positive test in Derry and Strabane between October 20 and October 21 was 128.

In total 4804 have now tested positive for the illness in Derry and Strabane.
