Derry COVID-19 rate rises for fifth consecutive day

The seven-day COVID-19 case rate per 100,000 in Derry and Strabane has risen for the fifth consecutive day and is now just behind Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon which has the highest rate in the north.

Between November 13 and November 19 there were 343 positive coronavirus cases in Derry and Strabane giving a seven day rate of 227.6, up from 221 on Thursday.

The Derry/Strabane seven day rate is now well above the average rate for the north which is 171.7.

Only Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon (228.8) is recording a higher rate in Derry and Strabane. Mid Ulster is also recording a high rate at 224.4.

All other districts posted rates lower than 200 per 100,000.

The daily change in the cumulative number of patients with a positive test in Derry and Strabane between November 18 and November 19 was 45.

In total 6,505 people have now tested positive for the illness in Derry and Strabane.
