Derry COVID-19 rate rises for fourth consecutive day and is back above 100 cases per 100,000

The seven-day coronavirus rate in Derry and Strabane has risen for the fourth consecutive day and is now back above 100 cases per 100,000 but still the lowest in the north.

Between January 29 and February 4, there were 154 confirmed positive cases of the virus in the district giving a seven day rate per 100,000 of 102.2, up from 98.2 yesterday.

The rate has risen four days in a row, albeit by small increments.

Derry/Strabane is still recording the lowest coronavirus rate in the north after Mid Ulster (275.9), Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon (257.9), Newry, Mourne and Down (173.2), Antrim and Newtownabbey (168.7), Belfast (156.8), Mid and East Antrim (138.5), Causeway Coast and Glens (120.6), Ards and North Down (120), Lisburn and Castlereagh (113) and Fermanagh and Omagh (108.7).

The average prevalence rate for the north over the same seven day period was 170.2, down from 170.3 per 100,000 yesterday.

The daily change in the cumulative number of patients with a positive test in Derry and Strabane between February 3 and February 4 was 24.

In total 10.791 people have tested positive in Derry and Strabane since the start of the pandemic last year.
