Derry COVID-19 rate still lowest in north despite marginal rise

The seven-day coronavirus rate in Derry and Strabane has risen marginally for the second day in a row but it is still below 100 cases per 100,000 and the lowest rate in the north.

Between January 27 and February 2, there were 146 confirmed positive cases of the virus in the district giving a seven day rate per 100,000 of 96.9, up from 90.9 yesterday.

Derry/Strabane is still recording the lowest coronavirus rate in the north after Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon (304.7), Mid Ulster (304.4), Newry, Mourne and Down (187), Antrim and Newtownabbey (173.1), Mid and East Antrim (153), Belfast (151.2), Fermanagh and Omagh (166.2), Causeway Coast and Glens (125.8), Lisburn and Castlereagh (119.2) and Ards and North Down (116.9).

The daily change in the cumulative number of patients with a positive test in Derry and Strabane between February 1 and February 2 was 30.

In total 10.743 people have tested positive in Derry and Strabane since the start of the pandemic last year.

There have been no further recorded deaths in Derry/Strabane.
