Derry/Strabane COVID-19 case rate drops for seventh consecutive day

The seven-day coronavirus case rate per 100,000 dropped in Derry/Strabane for the seventh day in a row on Sunday, according to data released by the Department of Health.

Between January 3 and January 9, there were 720 confirmed positive cases giving a seven day rate per 100,000 of 477.9.

This was down from an equivalent figure of 744 cases per 100,000 people that was recorded on Sunday, January 3.

The rate locally is now below the average for the north which is stood at 556.3 per 100,000.

Rates are higher in Newry, Mourne and Down (801.9), Mid Ulster (751.9), Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon (722.1), Antrim and Newtownabbey (569.8), Mid and East Antrim (506.5) and Belfast (489.7).
