Derry/Strabane COVID-19 case rate rises again and has not fallen substantially for a fortnight

The seven-day COVID-19 case rate per 100,000 in Derry and Strabane rose again on Monday, is the second highest in the north, and is not much lower than it was two weeks ago.

Between November 16 and November 22 there were 336 positive coronavirus cases in Derry and Strabane giving a seven day rate of 223, which is up from 217.7 on Sunday.

Last week saw progress against transmission of the illness in Derry and Strabane stall with slight increases in the seven day case rate recorded every single day.

While there were small decreases on Saturday and Sunday the Derry/Strabane rate is still well above the average rate for the north which is 157.

Now at 223 it is not much lower than it was on Monday, November 9, when a rate of 260.2 was recorded locally.

Mid Ulster has risen to 227.8 and is now recording the highest case rate in the six counties. Derry/Strabane has the second highest prevalence rate.

All other districts posted rates lower than 200 per 100,000. The rate in Ards and North Down is as low as 78.9.

The daily change in the cumulative number of patients with a positive test in Derry and Strabane between November 21 and November 22 was 40.

In total 6,615 people have now tested positive for the illness in Derry and Strabane.
