Derry/Strabane COVID-19 case rate stays steady at lowest level since September

The seven-day COVID-19 case rate per 100,000 in Derry and Strabane is still at as low a level as it has been since late September, according to the latest data from the Department of Health.

Between November 18 and November 24, there were 283 positive coronavirus cases in Derry and Strabane giving a seven day rate of 187.8, almost exactly the same figure as Tuesday (187.2).

According to the latest information from DoH 256 tests were registered in Derry/Strabane on Tuesday while the figure for Monday was revised up from 64 to 464 suggesting the sharp drop in the case rate on Tuesday was not due to a lack of testing for coronavirus.

Mid Ulster continues to post the highest seven day case rate in the north at 205.4.

Derry/Strabane has the second highest prevalence rate but it is not much higher than it was on September 25 (160.6 per 100,000).

The average rate in the six counties is 128.7 per 100,000 with several districts recording figures lower than 100: Antrim and Newtonabbey (95.3); Lisburn and Castlereagh (88.9); Newry, Mourne and Down (85.5); and Ards and North Down (78.9).

The daily change in the cumulative number of patients with a positive test in Derry and Strabane between November 23 and November 24 was 67.

In total 6,690 people have now tested positive for the illness in Derry and Strabane.
