Derry/Strabane COVID-19 case rate stubbornly high at 183.2 per 100,000 people

The seven-day COVID-19 case rate per 100,000 in Derry and Strabane remains stubbornly high, according to the latest data from the Department of Health.

Between December 2 and December 8, there were 276 positive coronavirus cases in Derry and Strabane giving a seven day rate of 183.2, up slightly from 179.2 on Tuesday.

The figure is as low as it has been since late September but appears to have plateaued at between 250 and 350 cases per week over the past several weeks.

Mid and East Antrim has the highest seven day rate (229.4), followed by Fermanagh and Omagh (195.2) and Causeway Coast and Glens (183.7). Derry/Strabane has the fourth highest rate.

The average rate for the north is 161.1.

The daily change in the cumulative number of patients with a positive test in Derry and Strabane between December 7 and December 8 was 47.

In total 7,273 people have now tested positive for the illness in Derry and Strabane.
