Derry/Strabane COVID-19 rate continues to fall

The seven-day coronavirus case rate per 100,000 in Derry and Strabane is continuing to fall, according to data from the Department of Health.

Data released by the department this afternoon show that between January 19 and January 25, there were 197 confirmed positive cases of the virus in the district giving a seven day rate per 100,000 of 130.7, down from 139.4 yesterday.

Derry and Strabane is today recording the second lowest coronavirus rate in the six counties after Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon (432.4), Mid Ulster (387.1), Newry, Mourne and Down (265.3), Antrim and Newtownabbey (249.5), Fermanagh and Omagh (193.4), Belfast (214.2), Mid and East Antrim (201.3), Lisburn and Castlereagh (174.3) and Ards and North Down (133.6).

The Causeway Coast and Glens are now has the lowest prevalence rate in the Six Counties (126.2).

The average prevalence rate for the north over the same seven day period was 243.6 per 100,000. This too is falling.

The daily change in the cumulative number of patients with a positive test in Derry and Strabane between January 24 and 25 was 17.

In total 10.576 people have tested positive in Derry and Strabane since the start of the pandemic last year.
