Derry and Strabane posted the sixth highest coronavirus seven day case rate per 100,000 in the north on Friday, according to the latest data from the Department of Health.

Between December 4 and December 10, there were 252 positive coronavirus cases in Derry and Strabane giving a seven day rate of 167.3, up slightly from 175.2 on Thursday.

This is as low as it has been since Friday, September 25, ten weeks ago.

The seven day incidence rate in Derry and Strabane is now close to the average for the north as whole (164.3 per 100,000) with several council areas recording higher levels of the virus, according to figures published this afternoon.

The highest rates were in Mid and East Antrim (263.3), Mid Ulster (192.5), Fermanagh and Omagh (191.7), Newry, Mourne and Down (187) and Causeway Coast and Glens (185.1).

The daily change in the cumulative number of patients with a positive test in Derry and Strabane between December 9 and December 10 was 36.

In total 7,342 people have now tested positive for the illness in Derry and Strabane.
